LaKisha has had the pleasure of planning small to large corporate events, such as awards shows, galas, fundraisers, conferences, and seminars. Her first event was planned 9 years ago. From then, she knew it was destined to pursue her passion. She has a degree in Interior Design. She also holds a degree in Management with a concentration in Small Business & Entrepreneurship. She started Designer Events by LaKisha in 2017. Designer Events by LaKisha specializes in corporate event planning, event design and set design for films, and plays. Designer Events by LaKisha is accredited by the Better Business Bureau with a “A+” rating; has been since 2018. She is also an Interior Designer. She has experience in residential and commercial design; includes residential and commercial staging, residential renovations, kitchen, and bathroom remodels.
One of her favorite personal quotes is “Every space is unique, and you make it your own”.
In 2019, she was featured in “The Bossed-Up & Empowered” women’s calendar. In March, LaKisha was featured as an ATL most inspiring stories in VoyageATL Magazine. In August, LaKisha was nominated for CEO on the Rise award for Who’s Who of Urban CEO’s. In October, she become the recipient of the award. She is featured in the 1st and 2nd Edition of Who’s Who of Urban CEO’s magazine. Also, in October, she started mentoring young women, whose goal is to be more successful in their personal and professional lives. In November, LaKisha became an Ambassador for the women’s organization, Black Women Networking International (BWN) where their mantra is to Unite, Edify, Empower and Support Change in the way the world views black women one woman at a time. Also, in November, LaKisha was selected to organize and plan World Women Conference & Awards. She is the Atlanta Chapter Leader of the organization.
In January 2020, LaKisha was featured in Eventplanner.com; where the goal of the publication is to bring greater visibility to event professionals, while at the same time providing useful and actionable information for those starting the process of planning an event. In May, LaKisha became the Set Designer and Assistant Director for the independent film, Zulu Blood. In July, LaKisha was featured in Shoutout Atlanta magazine sharing her story on why she decided to start her business. Also in July, LaKisha became co-author of Wake-Up Winning Vol 2; Losing is Not an Option. The book was launched January 2021.
In August, LaKisha was nominated for “Talented CEO” award for Who’s Who of Urban CEO’s for 2020. In November, she was elected as the Executive Director on the Board for Times of Expression & Refreshing Ministries based in California. Their sole purpose is to teach leaders within the church how to properly take care of their mind, body, and finances. January 2021, LaKisha became a contributing writer for Real Women Atlanta Magazine and signed on to the multi author international book project titled, “ I am: Releasing the Shame of Narcissistic Abuse and Transforming Financial Poverty to Wealth Beyond Numbers”. Book is due out April/May of 2021. LaKisha is currently the Set Designer and Production Assistant for the mini-series, Saving Nina. The film focuses on bringing awareness to teen and family domestic violence.
As well as Entrepreneur, LaKisha is also a mother of two, and lives by the statements, “Without God, I am nothing!” and “He has equipped me with everything I need to be successful!”
